Learn how to make a beautiful leather bag and discover the fascinating world of leathercraft.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
On this course, you won’t just learn how to make a beautiful leather product, but you will also have the chance to learn the basic leather tools and crafting techniques.
During the first part of the course, you will receive an introduction to different leather types and learn how to correctly use common leather hand tools. You will also learn essential leatherworking techniques such as cutting, marking and finishing leather goods.
In the second part of the course, you will apply some of the techniques learnt in the first chapter and hand-cut and assemble your beautiful handbag.

This course is suitable for everyone, no previous experience required, no sewing equipment required.

During the video, the teacher will explain and show the techniques in easy to understand English and the video will also be fully subtitled in English.
New methodologies and terminology will be explained to you so that they are clear and easy to understand even if you are a complete beginner.

If you buy the tool kit, all tools needed to complete your bag will be shipped to your address.
The kit includes a 30 cm steel ruler, a scratch awl, a stanley knife, a cutting mat, a double-sided craft hammer, a hollow punch, a punching mat and a V gouge.

In order to complete your handbag, you will need the following, which are not included in the materials or tools that we supply:

– 30 chicago screws size 4 mm (stem length) – 15  chicago screw size 6mm (stem length) 
– 1 Rectangular handbag turn-lock 
– Marking tool (scratch awl recommended)
– Stanley/utility knife
– Steel ruler
– Cutting mat
– Striking tool (mallet or craft hammer)
– Punching mat
– Hollow punch (size to match chicago screws)

My name is Melissa and I am a designer-maker and the co-founder of The London Leather Workshop.
I graduated in fashion design and product development in Rome and worked in the fashion and accessories industry for many years before pursuing my passion for leathercraft and starting my own business.
I started The London Leather Workshop to combine the design and leathercraft skills I gained over years.
I love delivering practical training and have many years of experience in teaching and delivering skills workshops, including teaching digital design skills in adult education colleges in London.
