I cannot recommend the London Leather Workshop enough! I booked a private session to craft a card wallet for my wife. She had given me a number of different elements from different designs she had liked and Sara was able to help turn my rough and poorly defined vision into a beautiful reality. I'm incredibly impressed with how quickly Sara was able to create paper prototypes for what turned out to be a very complicated design. Sara also did an excellent job of providing a number of training exercises to practice using the sewing machine before I began work on the real product. Brilliant morning spent at Sara and Melissa’s atelier. Sara was great at explaining the techniques and methods and then gave enough space for us to practice them on some scrap pieces, but was there and attentive to any questions we had. Although I’d some experience of hand-stitching leather, I’d never touched any form of sewing machine before. So there was a little trepidation in tackling an industrial leather sewing machine. However under Sara’s expert guidance, I was soon tackling all the fundamental construction techniques. I thoroughly enjoyed the two day course and would recommend it to anyone wanting to learn or improve their machine sewing. I left with the confidence to practice what I’d learnt on larger projects myself but that there is still so much to learn from their collective knowledge.
