DEBOSSING SERVICE
CUSTOM LOGO STAMPING ON LEATHER AND VEGAN LEATHER
Our debossing service offers professional, high-quality stamping for your logo on both leather and vegan leather.
The debossing machines, also known as hot press machines, use a heated metal stamp (die) etched with your artwork. The heat and pressure allow the machine to imprint the design onto the material.
We offer two debossing styles: blind debossing, which creates a recessed impression without added colour and foiled debossing, which adds a colour effect, typically in metallic gold or silver.
We can deboss panels using stamps with a maximum size of 20×10 cm. The maximum size of the panel to emboss will depend on its shape and the logo’s position.
Our MOQ is only 50pcs (per type of material, kind of debossing and foil colour).
PLEASE NOTE: We only deboss flat panels before stitching or assembly; we do not deboss finished products.
We will require some extra leather for testing, as well as additional panels to account for the possibility of minor errors.

IMPORTANT TO KNOW
MATERIAL TESTING
Testing is essential to ensure material suitability, even if you provide materials that have already been debossed. Each machine may require different adjustments and each leather-foil combination can produce different results.
The testing cost start from £20. The tests will be shipped to you for approval.
Please note: The material testing service is non-refundable, even if you are unsatisfied with the outcome and choose not to proceed.
FOILS
We maintain a stock of gold and silver foil that works for most leather types; however, we cannot guarantee compatibility with your specific material since each leather finish is different.
For example, some upholstery leathers may not adhere well to foil due to their protective finishes and some vegan leathers we have tried do not respond well to blind debossing or foiling. It’s always a trial-and-error process.
We can research options for you if you need other foil types or colours, though this may incur additional charges.
MATERIAL SOURCING
You can either provide your material or choose leather from our stock.
We sell our leather online at www.thebagmakingsuppliers.com and have a shop next to our studio in SE London.
Please note that due to the limited availability of our leather, we do not ship samples, so we suggest visiting us to select your material.
Our chrome-tanned leathers are priced between £2.80 and £4.50 per square foot, while our vegetable-tanned leather ranges from £5.00 to £7.50 per square foot.
People often use the term “embossing” to refer to any stamped impression on leather or other material, but in leather and accessory making, “debossing” is more common.
While embossing raises a design above the material’s surface, debossing presses the design into it, creating an indented, recessed effect ideal for logos and branding.
Although the terms are frequently confused, when people mention “embossing” in leatherwork, they usually refer to “debossing”.
ADDITIONAL SERVICES
If needed, we can assist with some preparatory and finishing steps; please find below:
We can use a steel cutting die to cut your leather or vegan leather panels before debossing.
A steel cutting die, also known as a clicker die, is a custom-made metal cutting tool used to precisely cut shapes.
It is pressed onto the material using a clicker press machine, providing accurate and clean cuts.
If you need us to create your die, you must provide a pattern. If the panel is a simple geometric shape like a rectangle, square, or circle, we just need the measurements.
The manufacturing cost varies based on the pattern size and complexity.
If you already have a cutting die that is compatible with our machine, we can use it for your project.
Our cutting service is priced based on quantity, starting at £60 for the first 50 pieces. Each additional 50 pieces will incur an extra £10 charge.
If required, we can finish the edges of the debossed panel using either edge paint or burnishing (for vegetable-tanned leather). The cost of this service will depend on the size and finishing specifications.
